Mikooshka aka Michael Simpson, musician and designer, has created an organic mix of new sounds he refers to as “world-tronica.” The sound is a left-field blend and incorporates elements from reggae, latin, hip-hop and house. Mikooshka has been writing and producing music since the 1980s, when he honed his song-writing abilities while fronting a series of guitar-driven power-pop bands. Always a self-starter, he produced underground zines and interviewed indie music luminaries such as: Henry Rollins, ALL, Fugazi, 7 Seconds, Doughboys and The Wedding Present.
Mikooshka plays bass and keys, programs, samples, records and performs live with super-future tools like Ableton Live. “Coconut Radio” is a featured song and video from “Construct Deconstruct Reconstruct,” a 7-song EP Mikooshka released in August 2009.
