The Radio Coco Open Source Remix Project
We live in an “open source” digital world. A world where multimedia tools are increasingly accessible and the Internet provides a forum for our creative works. The “Radio Coco Remix Project” is an invitation to musicians and music fans alike, to go with the “web 2.0″ flow— participate and share— remixing some music and we hope, creating some fresh new sounds. In the spirit of artists like “Girl Talk” and producers like “Prince Paul” we bring you an opportunity to play with samples and have some old-school musical fun. We encourage you to remix the song and hope a few adventurous folk will also re-imagine the video and mash up something new and crazy.
“Coconut Radio” was freestyled and recorded spontaneously while producer Mikooshka rolled the beats and vocalist Ulysses rolled the “psychic radio.” The “Coconut Radio” video was released in August 2009. Remixer Rise Ashen loved the track and offered a house remix. The “Coconut Radio” EP featuring Rise Ashen’s “Coco-Nuts” version, and a Spanish, latin house version by Mikooshka (“Radio Coco”) will be released in November 2009.
